History of NMWT Northern Maine Water Testing has been in business since the late 1970s. The original owner, Dr. Kahn, started the water testing service in the basement of his home. Over the years, the business has steadily grown, and for 12 years NMWT was located in the Downtown Mall in Caribou.   In November of 2009, we re-located to Brewer.  We are conveniently located at 484 Wilson Street (behind the Subway shop) Our current owners, Sal Scozzafava and Dianne Raymond, have committed themselves to the philosophy of prompt, reliable service. Sal, the Lab Director, has a BS degree in Forestry from the University of Maine and 37 years of industrial and business experience in forestry, sawmilling and water analysis. The business has developed into a well-respected water testing service used by residential owners and real estate agencies from all over the state of Maine. Quality Assurance Northern Maine Water Testing laboratory is fully certified by the State of Maine. This means that each time we test your water there are certain protocols that must be met. Prior to testing each parameter, the analyst must calibrate the equipment using carefully prepared standards to assure the accuracy of the test. Routine quality control checks include method analysis blanks, matrix spike and duplicate analyses. Dilutions are performed on samples that test outside of the calibration limits to assure test results are correct. In addition to daily quality control procedures, Northern Maine Water Testing periodically participates in Quality Control and Proficiency Test studies sponsored by the National Environmental Accreditation Program (NELAP), approved by the Certification Office of the State of Maine. Samples are identified by a systematic numbering process upon arrival in the lab and are tracked through the analysis procedure to avoid confusion. New lots of sample bottles and microbiological media are tested onsite to assure there is no contamination. What separates us from the competition? Communication – Our lab analysts communicate directly with clients to discuss their test results and suggest ways to remedy problems. A staff member at NMWT will contact you personally if a safety issue results from your water analysis. Service – We offer prompt turn-around and free fax service upon request for individuals or real estate agents who need test results ASAP or businesses that require results forwarded to a state agency for compliance.
